Buckhead Church : Services Shoot

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

My wife and I have been going to Buckhead Church since we moved to Atlanta in 2003. The church, the people, the volunteers and the amazing speakers (Andy StanleyJeff Henderson, and more) have played a huge role in shaping our family over the years. We are so blessed to have a church like Buckhead…not to mention the kids’ programs, which are amazing and have our oldest Adler excited about church every weekend.

A year and a half ago I was hired to come and shoot images of Buckhead’s services. I spent a whole day coming to each of the services and the rehearsal. It was an awesome experience, and I learned a LOT about the inner workings of Buckhead and how they pull off 3 services almost entirely with volunteers. Needless to say, I couldn’t have been more excited, and honored to be asked again to shoot more images. In June, I shot images for North Point Online, but was restricted in that the interest of each photo really needed to be in the corners AND needed a different look and feel. This time around, I was just asked to shoot primarily the worship services and the production team so that the main website images could be refreshed.

It was a great day getting to shoot Carlos Whitaker and James David Carter…both super talented and great leaders. These are a few of my favorite images from the day.SHP_Buckhead09-6037SHP_Buckhead09-5958SHP_Buckhead09-6339SHP_Buckhead09-5858SHP_Buckhead09-5905SHP_Buckhead09-6221SHP_Buckhead09-4 SHP_Buckhead09-6642SHP_Buckhead09-6127SHP_Buckhead09-6511

Lee Gamble – Promo Session

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

A few weeks ago I had a shoot with Artist Sarah Lawrence and mentioned Lee. Lee is not only a music biz guy, but he’s a talented musician as well, so we put together a quick shoot last night and had some fun dodging the crazy storm that blew through Atlanta.

Sarah Lawrence

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

Being a photographer based out of Atlanta is great because it really is easy to get to nearby places to shoot, OR to have someone come into town for a project. Sarah Lawrence is a way talented singer-songwriter from Birmingham, AL who’s getting her first big project underway. I can’t wait to hear her stuff and think she’s got a really bright future…she definitely played the part at the shoot!

The shoot was great. It was my first time to rent space at Studio 1FIVEO over near my “office” (Octane Coffee). I met up with Sarah and Lee Gamble (President of High Note Partners…an Atlanta-based marketing consulting firm that offers strategic marketing and branding services to artists and companies in the entertainment industry). Both were so great to work with and we had a great time hanging out for a couple hours, sneaking into a building to shoot, etc etc.

As soon as Sarah’s tunes are done, I’ll be sure to link ‘em up so you can check her out. She’s got this Bonnie Rait/Stevie Nicks vibe goin on, which is pretty cool.

Jared Johnson is Reinventing Himself

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Jared Johnson is a country artist, formerly out of Nashville and now gracing the great state of Texas with his country rock sound. Jared and his wife just relocated back to Texas where he’s reinventing himself and his sound. He’s been on a couple TV shows such as his current place on The Singing Bee.

He’s a great guy with a really fun personality and was so much fun to shoot with. Including our having a beer at our last stop in the Woodlands. (Goose’s Acre).

Thanks Jared! I can’t wait to hear the new tunes!!!

On the road…Nashville

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

The last couple of days have been crazy. Had a commercial shoot, a wedding, and a band/label shoot all within 4 days of each other and in completely different states. Monday I drove up to Nashville to shoot Dave and Jamar of Level6 Records. They’re a new label/promotions company and are headed out on a 30 day tour to promote their new business. We shot in the morning at a few locations we found downtown…I’m in LOVE with Nashville as a location because there are just so many awesome spots.

Then in the afternoon, I shot King Brock, a new artist who sorta reminds me of the Incubus singer. He’s got a great EP coming out, so be on the lookout for his stuff.

Here are a couple of my favs from the day:
The Fellas from Level6
