S Hunton Photography @ Buckhead Church

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

So, the blog world is officially bringing business to S Hunton Photography. It’s really amazing to see how God will orchestrate things through the internet. From my first friends at the University of Arkansas in 1998, to getting booked to shoot at Buckhead Church last Sunday. One of the cool parts about the job was that I was finally able to meet Carlos Whittaker, whose blog is linked to the right. I’d randomly gotten connected to his blog through my best friend and realtor extraordinaire John Fountain. I’d read his blog and even traded emails, but had never met him in person although he works at Buckhead Church where Kristine and I go.

Anyway, long story short, Carlos is connected to some crazy talented photographers (many of whom I’d found on the internet long before) who all (fortunately for me) live in CA. He posted a blog about needing a photog for some Buckhead promo pictures and luckily for me, another good friend from the Arkansas days Jason Miller threw my name out as a recommendation. Carlos shot me an email and here are a couple of my favorites from the day:

Winter Has Gone

One of the songs I played at my show last Friday. They’re all posted on viddler and youtube, but figured I should post to this blog, and then some to http://thehuntons.blogspot.com

ABOUT STEPHEN

WHO DA?
My name is Stephen (but I’ll pretty much answer to anything…Stevo being a pretty often occurance) and I’m an Atlanta-based photographer.  I’m available to shoot your event anywhere…so if you’re looking for a photographer in Fiji…I can be your guy. ;)

I’m married to my high-school sweetheart, Kristine, and have a beautiful boy named Adler.  When I’m not shooting photos I love just being with family & friends.  Life is too short to not have fun with the people you love and that’s probably what I love about photography most…it’s a chance to capture you around the people you love having fun with.

WHERE’D I COME FROM?
I’ve been shooting fotography (that’s how cool people spell it) for years. It sorta started out in highschool when I got a camera and took a class. I made my way through college studying communications and “how to make it as a musician” (not a major, but probably what I spent a the majority of my time doing in B-side) and took photos along the way, but alas my camera broke…and so was I.

Then in 2006, my wife (Kristine) and I found out we were having a baby Boy! My parents hooked me up with a nice DSLR and I was once again hooked.  I can get addicted to learning how to do things well, and with photography it was no different.  I took TONS of pictures and over time, people started asking that I shoot their kids.  Then a wedding…then a band…then…you get the picture.  So, for the last 2 years I’ve been shooting everything from babies to brides, from musicians to athletes…and having an amazing time doing it.

Just a little guitar solo for you… :)

S Hunton Photography – Explore more

One of my goals for my photography in 2008 is going to be to see more color, design, beauty, etc in every day life. For the past year I’ve been working on my skills as a portrait photographer, also doing the wedding over the holidays, but as I’ve explored more and more photographers’ work on flickr.com I’ve discovered a desire to be more aware of things with my camera. There are so many great photographers, that are not shooting faces half the time and their images are drawing me in because they take you somewhere.

A couple recommended sites to check out:
Trever Hoehne
Mark Fleming
Joshua Longbrake
Keiko
Cristina Corduneanu
Paul Octavious

So, the resolution for 2008 will be to have my camera with me more often, as well as having my eyes open along the way. It’s so easy to just drive to work, head down, listening to talk radio that’s worthless INSTEAD of driving to music that brings me closer to God while looking around at creation and hopefully capturing some “beauty” along the way.

Anyway, here are a couple of the first images I’ve snapped due to just having my camera in the car. It snowed buckets here in Atlanta yesterday, and luckily I had my camera in the car and was able to snap a few pictures before it got too dark. Had I left it at home, there’s no way that I’d have gotten to the house and been out quick enough to capture any pictures. Let the resolution accountability begin:

Stevo's Latest Music Reviews Vol. 17

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

Well, as I mentioned, the iTunes gift cards from Christmas have been coming in handy…well “burning a hole in my pocket” is probably more accurate, but I did find some really great new music that I think you’ll like.

ERIC HUTCHINSON

I’m going to say that Eric Hutchinson is the love child of Billy Joel and Bruce Hornsby. I’m throwin it out there, Jerry Springer…if you’re out there you should do a show called “Musical Love children and the Parents who brought them to us”. I’d tune in. Anyway. I’m all about this guy. If you’ve read my other reviews you’ll probably get a theme from them. I like songwriters, especially catchy/pop-driven ones that avoid getting a little too close to cheesy. Don’t get me wrong…cheesy love songs have their place in everyone’s heart, right next to the memories of 7th grade slow dances with the girl you’re crushin on, groovin to Boyz 2 Men.

In all seriousness, Eric is a great songwriter. He plays guitar and keys and has a great sound surrounding him from the band. I’d totally go see him play next week here in Atlanta, opening up for OneRepublic at The Tabernacle if I didn’t have to play the next night, but babysitters are hard to come by…and so is talent like this, so go check him out!!!

Grammi, Tom Tom and iChat

Monday, January 14th, 2008

There’s more pics on thehuntons.blogspot.com, but I had to post this one from our little impromtu iChat with my folks. Adler was hilarious, showing Grammi and Tom Tom some new tricks, like how to pray and also how he rocks on his new drum set. It was pretty dang cute.
