Dave Wilson is one of my oldest friends and a super talented musician, engineer, producer…. You’ve probably seen pics of him on the blog before, and probably the pics that I’m posting here… the only difference is that Dave is currently getting back to his roots as an engineer/producer in the Nashville area. Dave and I will be working on a few things to help his brand, from hopefully shooting new photography and building a blog to utilizing some of the existing photography we’ve already shot. So, with that in mind, I went back into the hard drive and pulled out some of my favorite shots… cropped some and edited them all for a somewhat consistent look/feel. Just the beginning, but I like the direction they’re headed.

A few weeks ago I headed up to Elijay, GA from Atlanta to shoot the Ferguson family. Karleen is a good friend of ours who’s been a huge blessing to us as we’ve taken on full-time photography, so as a thanks for all the tips/hints/referrals/etc, we went up to her Parents’ farm/vacation house to shoot pics of their beautiful family. It was a blast walking around the grounds and finding fun shots. Not to mention a couple snakes, bees and other outdoors-ie fun stuff you find on a farm like the uber cool truck in the last pic!
If you ever need a caterer… call and ask for Karleen at Carol Parks Catering. She’s seriously one of the nicest people I’ve met in Atlanta! Thanks Karleen!!!
My wife and I have been going to Buckhead Church since we moved to Atlanta in 2003. The church, the people, the volunteers and the amazing speakers (Andy Stanley, Jeff Henderson, and more) have played a huge role in shaping our family over the years. We are so blessed to have a church like Buckhead…not to mention the kids’ programs, which are amazing and have our oldest Adler excited about church every weekend.
A year and a half ago I was hired to come and shoot images of Buckhead’s services. I spent a whole day coming to each of the services and the rehearsal. It was an awesome experience, and I learned a LOT about the inner workings of Buckhead and how they pull off 3 services almost entirely with volunteers. Needless to say, I couldn’t have been more excited, and honored to be asked again to shoot more images. In June, I shot images for North Point Online, but was restricted in that the interest of each photo really needed to be in the corners AND needed a different look and feel. This time around, I was just asked to shoot primarily the worship services and the production team so that the main website images could be refreshed.
It was a great day getting to shoot Carlos Whitaker and James David Carter…both super talented and great leaders. These are a few of my favorite images from the day.
Over the weekend, the weather was pretty crummy in Atlanta. Sunday, we were supposed to head to Elijay for a family photo shoot for our good friend Karleen at Carol Parks Catering. Karleen is possibly the nicest person I’ve met here in Atlanta and has had a ton of great advice as I start trying to grow this business. We were totally bummed we had to reschedule, but instead I pulled out the lights and the camera at home and Kristine and I wrangled the boys for a quick impromptu photo shoot.
A few weeks ago I had a shoot with Artist Sarah Lawrence and mentioned Lee. Lee is not only a music biz guy, but he’s a talented musician as well, so we put together a quick shoot last night and had some fun dodging the crazy storm that blew through Atlanta.
I met Lindsey and Jonas in Destin last year at a wedding I was shooting. Lindsey was the coordinator for the day, and Jonas was doing the video. They were super cool, but as usual you never know if you’ll see people again. A few months later they contacted me to let me know that they were engaged and wanted me to shoot their wedding! FTW. I couldn’t be more excited about their Ashville wedding in October. Fall leaves and bagpipes? Yes please.
Lindsey and Jonas are both in the ad business here in Atlanta, as producers, so they took their skillz and brought ‘em to their e-session last week. Locations, stylists, wardrobe changes…etc. It was probably the most fun I’ve had shooting in a while. Hopefully the images communicate the fun we had.
I’m so blessed to be on this ride called life with Kristine and my two beautiful boys. The last few weeks, I’ve been playing more with the video feature on my Nikon D90. It’s become a new frontier of creativity for me and one that I want to explore more. Aside from some of the limitations of the video features (some from the camera, and some from limited knowledge of the user , it’s allowed me to produce some fun, raw and real videos that showcase my family and the normal, candid moments that I cherish the most with them.
I couldn’t be more thankful for the days from May 1st until today. I’ve seen so much of God through my family and my special summer with them. Who knows where He will lead us, but I know that He’ll lead us somewhere together…and that’s all that matters.
Today’s one of those days where I don’t have a shoot, but have plenty of unchecked boxes in the to-do box. I’m driving around like crazy delivering, meeting, sitting, etc etc. (I found this old image and thought it applied perfectly)…
It’s easy to sit down and just get caught in the minutia, lose focus and wonder what the heck I’m doing. Admin stuff just isn’t fun. It’s confusing because I’m always questioning if I’m taking the right next steps in building this business. I want to be out shooting, trying new things, getting better with my camera, but I have so much non-camera-using things to do to keep it all moving…And thus, I’m trying to get re-inspired today.
Who inspires you? Why? What artists, photographers, musicians, people make your creative juices start flowing? I need some ammo to bring me back into focus.
